School starts August 17

Dear Families:

I hope you all had a good summer. We are getting quite excited over here… the first day of school is Monday, August 17 :)

I appreciate all you do to help your children succeed. As we get ready for the new school year, here are a few ways you can help your student be prepared and confident on day one:

Tips for a happy return to school

• Set an earlier bedtime and consistent morning routine to ensure your child is well-rested.

• Talk with your child about the importance of good attendance and arriving on time.

• Talk about what responsible and respectful behavior looks like at school and home.

• Label coats, boots, and other personal items.

• Help younger students practice independent tasks (zipping, tying, buttoning) so they feel confident.

• Establish a designated, calm spot for homework and reading after school.

• Remember that student cell phones should be left at home. If brought to school, they must be powered off during the day.

• Discuss any concerns or medical needs with the school so we can support your child.

• Encourage a positive attitude about learning and trying new things.

We will have a back-to-school event and Title I meeting on Thursday, August 27, with lots of good information for you.
